Puppy training at our puppy pre school is fun way to rid those bad habits early!

Puppies have a sensitive period of development between 6-16 weeks. Any experiences your new pup has during this time can affect his/her later behaviour. Puppy preschool is designed as a fun way for your pup to learn how to socialise with their future four and two legged friends.

We also educate you the owner on how to raise a safe, well-mannered, healthy citizen and family member. Puppy preschool addresses this by socialising the pup to new friends and non-threatening situations.

To develop into happy, healthy confident adults, puppies need to be handled and socialised regularly. It is also much easier to teach a puppy the basic commands and good behavior now rather than when it is a much larger problem later down the track.Taking your dog to the vet can be a stressful time for all involved. Puppy preschool is designed to be fun! All training is reward-based and there are lots of play sessions.

Soon your puppy will see coming to the vet as a fun outing!Over the four weeks of this course we will discuss topics such as nutrition, common behaviours, diseases that affect your puppy and your family, basic commands, grooming and much more.

 Why is Puppy Preschool important?

Bringing a new puppy into your home is very exciting. It can also be a little challenging as your puppy needs your time, care and a lot of attention. For new puppy owners, a source of support and information while caring for their new family member is essential. Our trained staff at Bundaberg Veterinary Clinic can provide this and recommend all puppies attend our informative and enjoyable classes.

What you can expect from our Puppy Preschool classes?

Early socialisation is significant for puppies, this is where they learn to behave like and communicate with other dogs. This class provides the opportunity for your puppy to play with other puppies under supervision. If they miss out on this experience, it can lead to aggressive and anti-social behaviour.

Advice on common puppy issues such as house-training, biting, mouthing and jumping up, nutrition and behaviour. Teaching good manners and behaviour is best accomplished at a young age before unwelcome habits have a chance to establish.

Information and guidance on responsible pet ownership. This includes general health, de-sexing, mental and physical exercise, nutrition and behavioural information with opportunities to ask questions regarding your new puppy.

Basic training and commands such as sit, lie down and come. These form the basis for control of your puppy and teach the pup to look for your leadership. Pre-school is not an obedience class however it ought to be the stepping stone into further training.

What to bring?

Please bring a lead to class and your puppy should also be suitably fitted with a collar. If your puppy was not vaccinated at Bundaberg Veterinary Clinic please bring your puppy’s current vaccination record.
