It may have rained last weekend but Red Collar Rescue didn’t let it dampen their spirits.

Armed with sausages, onions and Bar B Q tongs Sharon from Red Collar Rescue and vets and nurses from Vet Cross Animal Hospital fed the cold wet Bargara patrons sausage sangers from the Bar B Q at Bargara Shopping Village.

The Bar B Q was to raise money for the many abandoned, unwanted and abused dogs that are saved and re-homed through The Red Collar Rescue refuge in Biggenden. This independent, non government funded organization is run by Sharon and her partner Russell who rely solely on the generosity and kindness of the general public.

And did they show their big hearts and kindness on the weekend raising over $600 from the sausage sizzle and donations.

More donations came in the way of prizes for a raffle, these beautiful gifts were all hand made and donated by kind animal lovers. Tickets have been sold at the Vet Cross clinics raising almost $500.

Dr Andrew Marland said “the vets and nurses frequently donate their time to help Red Collar Rescue at Biggenden and Vet Cross is happy to be actively involved with the refuge that is run in accordance with our beliefs.”

” Dr Andrew added “Sharon and Russell work tirelessly to find these unwanted dogs a home and we are glad to be able to support them”
