Dr Tim Hill BVSc MACVS Practice Principal
Tim graduated from University of Queensland in 1993 and, because of his interest in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, gained Membership of Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Surgery in 2006. Tim completed the PennHip certification in 2009 enabling accurate assessment and evaluation of hip screening, he also has a diploma in animal ophthalmology. Tim travelled throughout Australia and the United Kingdom and gained extensive experience in mixed and dairy practices.
Dr Andrew Marland BVSc (Hons) Practice Principal
Growing up on a local cattle property Andrew developed a love of animals and desire to become a veterinarian at an early age. After graduating in 2000 he entered mixed animal practice in western Queensland before working in the United Kingdom for 2 years. Andrew is an Australian Cattle Vets accredited Bull tester and National Pregnancy Testing accredited examiner. Although spending much of his time working with cattle and horses Andrew enjoys all challenges of mixed animal practice.
Dr Susan Carroll BVSc (Hons) Senior Veterinary Associate
Susan joined Vet Cross in Bundaberg in 2004. After graduating in 1998 Susan started her veterinary career in a country practice in regional Queensland later travelling overseas. After the birth of her 2 children she has continued studies and has now completed a course with the Centre for Veterinary Education in animal ultrasonography.
Dr Kate Schroeder BVSc
Dr Kate grew up in Bundaberg and studied at the University of Queensland, Gatton. Kate is very interested in horses and has a stock horse called Edward who she hopes to eventually compete on.
Dr Tom Ulcoq BVSc
Tom is from Cairns and studied at James Cook University in Townsville. He likes both large and small animal work and is interested in veterinary medicine and problem solving difficult cases. Tom has 2 Golden Retrievers back home in Cairns called Ellie and Meg. His hobbies include soccer, cricket and music.
Dr Emily Pelling BVSc
Emily joined the Vet Cross team early 2017. Emily grew up in Theodore and studied at James Cook University in Townsville. Growing up on a Droughtmaster Stud it’s no surprise her special interest is in cattle. Emily is the owner of 3 cats Juicy, Scratchy and Felix and is the owner of a beloved horse named Beetle Juice.
Dr Alisa Alden BVMs
Alisa grew up in Port Macquarie and studied at Murdoch University in Perth. Alisa moved to Bundaberg in 2017 to join the Vet Cross team bringing her much loved cat Benji, her special interests are equine medicine and surgery.
Dr Bailey Grimes BVSc
Dr Bailey grew up on a property in the Darling Downs where she developed a love for animal care and production herd health. After studying Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland she has recently moved to Bundaberg to start her career as a mixed animal Veterinarian. Bailey has a passion for animals of all sizes and is enjoying the wide variety throughout all three Vet Cross Clinics. She is the owner of one very cute Jack Russel puppy Nellie who keeps her very busy when she is at home or at the beach.
Dr Renee Buikstra BVSc
Dr Renee joined the Vet Cross team in February 2018. Renee grew up in Murwillumbah NSW then headed to Gatton to do her studies at the University of Queensland. During her studies Renee developed a special interest in surgery and small animal reproduction. Renee is the owner of two beloved dogs Cleo and Diesel.
Cheryl Rowe Receptionist/Accounts Manager
Cheryl started with us in 2010 after being a receptionist for a law firm. The transition from law to veterinary couldn’t be more extreme but Cheryl managed it easily. Cheryl adopted Roxy, a little Terrier X, from the RSPCA in January 2009 and enjoys walking on the Esplanade at Elliott Heads.
Sarah Mclean Practice Manager
Sarah has worked as a veterinary receptionist for over 7 years and enjoys the wide variety of clients and their pets that she meets each day. After taking a short break to start a family Sarah returned to Vet Cross to take up position as Practice Manager. She has a dog called Eazy who was a stray that nobody wanted.
Amanda Bickmore Receptionist
Amanda has lived in Bundaberg most of her life and joined us at the beginning of 2013. She has a cattle dog cross called Cindy that was an RSPCA pup. Amanda plays netball, volleyball and tennis along with the vets and nurses from Vet Cross.
Jo Logan Gin Gin Receptionist
Jo Joined to Vet Cross team in July 2011 after being in retail for many years. Jo is kept busy in her spare time with her 4 dogs Buddy, Ruby, Red and Zip. Her hobbies are camping and fishing with her family. Jo is well known among the locals in Gin Gin.
Jackie Sergiacomi Receptionist
Jackie Joined the Vet Cross team in 2016. Jackie has over 24 years experience and says she couldn’t imagine her life without the excitement and satisfaction that comes from being in the veterinary industry. Jackie’s experience has ranged from a nurse right through to accounts and management. Jackie has been competing in endurance racing for the past 30 years and loves that the sport takes her to beautiful parts of Australia that otherwise she may have missed.
Nurse Anna Logan QVN (Cert IV)
Anna has been working as a veterinary nurse for the Vet Cross team since 2008 graduating as a qualified veterinary nurse in 2011. Anna is a key team member being actively involved in training junior nurses, 2013 saw Anna take time off to start a family. Anna has a dog called Moose who is a rescue dog.
Nurse Jennifer Marland (Cert ll)
Jennifer has worked as part of the Vet Cross team since 2006 and completed her Certificate ll in Veterinary Nursing in 2009. Jen has a passion for customer service and an interest in pathology. Having worked as a volunteer at Red Collar Rescue and the R.S.P.C.A she is dedicated to improving animal welfare. Jennifer has a blue Staffordshire terrier called Banjo whom she loves dearly.
Nurse Amy Jensen QVN (Cert IV)
Amy has been working at Vet Cross since July 2009 and qualified as a Cert IV veterinary nurse in January 2014. Amy is a talented nurse and is often found helping clients on the phone or at the front desk. Amy is an asset to the Vet Cross team. She has a Shih Tzu called Penny and a Labrador called Norman.
Nurse Alex Walters QVN (Cert IV)
Alex moved from Toowoomba with her family to Bundaberg in 2011 and joined the Vet Cross team in April 2012, She successfully completed her Cert IV in veterinary nursing in 2016. She has a rescue dog called Buddy and 2 horses she used to One Day Event. Alex’s hobby now is water skiing in her spare time with her partner.
Nurse Kiara De Marco
Kiara joined the Vet Cross team in February 2013. Originally born in Bundaberg her family moved to the Northern Territory and it was a few years before she returned, inbetween she studied Veterinary Technician at Gatton University. Kiara came to Vet Cross for work placement and stayed. Her favourite animals are elephants, unfortunately I doubt if she’ll see many in our waiting room.
Nurse Bec Nicholson QVN (Cert IV)
Bec joined the Vet Cross team in 2015. Bec has been in the veterinary industry for 9 years where she started as a kennel hand when she was 14 years old, Bec successfully completed her veterinary studies in 2016. She admits she is a bit of a ‘gym junkie’. She has 2 Bull Arabx’s called Maverick and Slick.
Nurse Sarah Manderson QVN (Cert IV)
Sarah joined the Vet Cross team in 2016. Sarah has been a qualified vet nurse since 2012, her special interests are feline nursing and radiography. Sarah has 2 cats named Felix and Cooper and a Sun Conure named Georgia.
Nurse Ashleigh Hendersen
Ashleigh has moved here from Brisbane in 2017 and is currently studying her cert 4 in veterinary nursing. Ashleigh owns 2 dogs named Reeva and ralph and 2 horses named Dolly and Holly.
Nurse Courtney Milne
Courtney is about to complete her Certificate 2 in Vet Nursing and is looking forward to starting Certificate 4. She is the owner of Jax a 1 year old Border Collie X Kelpie.
Nurse Jess Cameron
In 2018 Vet Cross welcomed Jess to the team, she came to Bundaberg from Port Macquarie. Jess studied at Taronga Zoo to complete a Certificate 2 in Animal Studies and is now looking forward to starting a Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing. Jess is the owner of her gorgeous Husky Luna and a ginger cat named Simba.
Nurse Maties Beachley
Originally from the Gold Coast Matiese moved to Gatton to study at the University of Queensland where she completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology as well as a Bachelor of Applied Science with an extended major in wildlife.
Pet Superstore Manager Sue Franks
Sue joined us with the opening of the new Pet Superstore in September 2012. With over 30 years experience in retail and a genuine love of all animals she was the right person to manage the store. Sue has two grown up daughters and in 2017 became a grandmother. Sue also has two dogs called Jet and Hank, she and her husband like camping and fishing when they get the time.
Nurse/Groomer Bianca Carter
Bianca is a Bundaberg girl and went to school at St Lukes, on leaving school she became a hairdresser. Bianca joined the Vet Cross team in 2012 as a nurse and groomer, her hairdressing background makes her an excellent groomer. Her and her husband have a menagerie of cattle, sheep, pigs, horses, dogs, birds and chickens on their property. Rocco, their English Mastiff is Bianca’s favourite.
Groomer Caitlin Kemp
Caitlin is a Bundaberg girl and has lived here all her life. When she joined the team she had no experience with clipping/hydrobaths but she picked it up instantly. Catlin has 2 dogs Rosie and Pippa
